I haven't ordered anything from him but I have ordered Russian lenses from Kiev USA and found them very dependable to deal with. I have several super wide lenses and they are sharp as a tack.

The only thing is that I hear the quality control isn't very consistant with some of the Russkie stuff. That doesn't mean you can't get something good. It just means that you may be more likely to have to send something back and get it replaced if it shows some sort of defect upon arrival.

One of my Kiev lenses was that way. The aperature pin seemed to be made out of some sort of second hand metal and had no chrome on it at all! It actually had rust on it. I sent it back and they sent me another one that was chromed and was perfect in every way. They even paid for all shipping. In all, I felt I was treated well and got a great deal on some super sharp lenses.

You might ask the guy if they inspect the stock when they get it in for QC errors at the factory. Kiev USA tries to do that as much as possible and only one lens out of a half dozen had any problems.

Yeah, Roger... the fellow at Kiev seemed cool. I enquired about purchasing the Meteor 17-69 zoom lenses that come with the K-3's, and he quoted me a flat rate of $59 and said I could return them if I had a problem. I might see if he has K-2's.

Incedentally, I don't know if everyone is familiar with the K-2. I've been looking into them because I want to get a CHEAP 16mm camera to start shooting on. The K-2 is EXACTLY the same as K-3 EXCEPT it takes an internal metal 100-foot magazine instead of daylight spools and doesn't have the auto-loop thing... which if you're familiar with the K-3, are precisely the things that they have to fix before they work correctly. He also informed/ warned me NOT to use the lightmeter on the cameras, which is good policy, and from what I have heard the K-3 meters are no better.

The K-1/ K-2 body (at least from Olexandr) sells for $80, the Meteor 17-69 lens goes for another $80, and the metal cartridges are $15 bucks a piece.
